Everyone freaking out in this thread is hilarious. When it comes to Vault remember the "rule of primes"' is all that matters. If your firm "falls" but stays above the next prime you're fine. For example a firm that falls from 14 to 18 is fine as that's safely within the 13-17 (V137 range). Obviously if your firm falls from 18 to 20 (aka a V1719 becoming a V1923) that's going to be pretty problematic, but the statistical likelihood of such a drastic change is small.

That would be incredibly stupid. It's based off analysis of last year's OCI bid lists with higher weight given to those with higher GPAs & School rankings.

Edit: I said that to be funny but then cringed when I realized that the correlation might be really high.

Based on the Boston comment, I'm guessing Ropes is the V30 that tumbled. Wonder why..

I can't believe I'm joining in this. If there's a new number one in Boston, that would mean that Ropes passed Wilmer. Also, Wilmer would be the more likely candidate for a tumble as their corporate group got raided by Latham a few years ago and hasn't fully recovered.

Ropes is #1 in the regional rankings for Boston in 2016 despite being lower than WH on the main rankings. OP said he looked at the regional ranking for Boston. I'm guessing WH passed Ropes for #1 in Boston.

I've never heard of this rule. Frankly, it sounds like something you made up. Not cool. As runinthefront points out, rising 2Ls could make career-altering decisions based on this information.

Vault has no meaning, and its fun to troll people who are foolish enough to care, so of course its speculation but more importantly even if rpupkin had seen the 'rankings', it would be irrelevant, but some people on TLS will take it very seriously
