Year-Over-Year Hours Check In
Thought it would be interesting to get a year-over-year hours check in from 2nd+ years. Something similar to the below:
NYC Biglaw
Transactional
4th year
2000 - 2300 - 1800 - 1900
Would appreciate anyone who is willing to share. Might help us to visualize the peaks and troughs of biglaw year over year.

Just to be on the same page. Is this stricly billable hours, or other Firm credit hours (marketing, pro bono, etc.)?

Whatever your firm counts as "billable" hours (e.g. for bonus or other purposes).Anonymous User wrote:Just to be on the same page. Is this stricly billable hours, or other Firm credit hours (marketing, pro bono, etc.)?

What is the norm on this? Do most biglaw firms count marketing, training, recruiting hours toward bonus eligibility?Anonymous User wrote:Whatever your firm counts as "billable" hours (e.g. for bonus or other purposes).Anonymous User wrote:Just to be on the same page. Don't want to be too specific. It's a place where my numbers are not out of the ordinary, which narrows it down to a handful, and which one of those doesn't really matter.imalreadyamember? wrote:Jesus dude. Firm?Anonymous User wrote:NYC Big Law Litigation, 3rd year

Re: Year-Over-Year Hours Check In
Sorry if this derails the thread, but can some of the associates here discuss how a 1800/1900/2000 hour year v a 2200/2300/2400 hour year actually shakes out in terms of monthly hours and mental health effects? Just curious as it seems like a lot have had both reasonable years and pretty bad years. Interested in transactional associates more so, but both perspectives would be awesome.

Seconded for lit. Great idea and not thread-derailing. It would enhance the thread to have more than just the numbers I think.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry if this derails the thread, but can some of the associates here discuss how a 1800/1900/2000 hour year v a 2200/2300/2400 hour year actually shakes out in terms of monthly hours and mental health effects?
