I took a semester off so graduate in winter amd take the Feb bar. I got a law clerk position at a small firm during my 2L summer but they do not have hiring capa at this moment and no offer is expected.
I can work whereever I have the best job (but must be a law firm job) as long as it is a big city (i.e. LA, SF, NY). My family does not live in the US any more and I can always make friends in a new environment. (Actually, I don't need new friends). My concern is where I should take the bar when I have several markets in mind? I need to start doing many things related to the market I will practice including the C&F application.

where do you want to live? There are law firms and government jobs basically everywhere though bigger cities are def more competitive. There's some poster around here saying that there's counties in New Mexico that has perpetual listings for PDs and will take like anybody

But CA and IL do not adopt UBE...only NY.

Take the UBE. Look at total points need for a passing score in that state and go with the lowest, like Montana or Missouri.
Without knowing more information, I don't know how easily you will be able to break into the legal market in large cities such as NYC, LA, SF, ect.

Since California has one of the more difficult bars and doesn't let anyone waive in, employers probably care marginally more about hiring people who have already passed. New York is UBE and has more jobs, but New York firms couldn't really give less of a fuck if you've passed before they hire you, so it's not like passing in Feb is going to give you a leg up.
