Rock and a hard place

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jun 09, 2016 2:39 am

3.1 at USC/UCLA, with 2 years international WE. I realize its a shit GPA but too late to change it now. Only solace I have is that I'm on a full ride and I like my classes. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

What is the best use of my time if I want to do mid-law transactional?
I would want to stay near LA, but OC, San Diego is all fine.
Only have strong ties to LA, and weak ties to SF.
Should I even bother with the big law firm receptions?
Other than mass mailing and contacting alumni is there anything else I can do to overcome the shitty GPA?
How helpful are the ABA events? Have you gone to any of them?

Anyone else who was in a similar boat but was able to get a good job out of school? Decent training with comp above 75k? If so what did you do?

I'm not worried about getting "a" job because I have an offer from a small boutique that is paying 15 an hour and willing to split any clients I bring in 35/65 his way. I would rather not do this if I can avoid it.
