Biglaw offer acceptance question

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jun 08, 2016 1:05 pm

I summered/accepted an offer at NYC big law, and I'm clerking for 2 yrs (16-17, 17-18). What are the ethical rules/whatever on looking at other firms (think boutique) coming out of the clerkship? Basically does anyone know if I'm super-bound to go back to the firm I accepted the offer at?

You're not bound to return. Lots of people "accept" post-SA offers but end up going to other firms (or into the government, etc.) after clerking.

This is, if not the norm, completely normal

A lot of people do it. This clerking thing is like the one single aspect of legal hiring that works in the employees favor.

Law firm holds position for you, yet you are totally free to shop your wares all over town.
