Position for upcoming OCI?

Schools sends about 35% to FC/BL, I just finished my first year right at the cut off for top 10%. Any advice going in?

Decide what markets you would be willing to work in, build a list of every firm you would consider working at in those markets, and reach out to anyone you might know who can give you a better idea about those particular firms/markets and what to expect. Do this to be ready to apply to firms not coming to your school's OCI, there is no better peace of mind for OCI than having an offer or two when you are going into it.

Obviously, do write on if you didn't grade on to LR, and don't assume that your grades are going to get you anything (even though they will probably help you get that first interview).

Unless you really see your 1L summer position turning into something after graduation its way more important to focus on mass mail and networking for 2L summer and beyond.

Seek out as many interviews as possible (OCI + mass mail) --> Prepare and nail screeners --> hope for call backs --> Get an offer

Focus on NYC/school's local market, then expand to other areas you want to be. Don't spread your bids too thin among various geographic regions.
