Do you think police involved shootings where there's probable cause that the officer was not justified should be prosecuted by an independent prosecutor?

Will you be appearing at bond hearings?
What arguments do you plan to make in securing high bond amounts?
Do you go hit up the bar every night after work like they do on TV?
What were some of the interview questions that you were asked?

How do you feel about imprisoning nonviolent drug offenders? Do you believe that prison should serve punitive or rehabilitative purposes?

What makes this experience AMA worthy? That someone from a t2 got a job at all? Or that some random law student managed to end up in the top third of his class?

To be fair, he's probably spending all his time studying for the bar atm. But yeah, worst AMA ever.

Do state prosecutor offices make offers before someone is licensed? He/she must be in Montana or Wyoming.encore1101 wrote:kellyfrost wrote:Hey,Anonymous User wrote:AMA.

Do they allow for a bar exam retake if you do not pass?

1) When you say "state prosecutor" do you mean state's attorney or district attorney? Because I know of plenty district attorney offices that do not make offers to 3Ls until they are licensed. I have no idea about the hiring practices of state's attorney offices/attorney general offices.Nebby wrote:I have no ideakellyfrost wrote:That's awesome, I didn't know that-- obviously.Nebby wrote:Yes. 2) No, they generally do not allow for bar exam retake if you do not pass. Your offer is conditional on your bar passage; hence why most new hires begin in october or november. If you do not pass, your offer is taken off the table.

If you follow the prosecution/public defender thread, lots of DA's offices hire prosecutors as 3Ls, but the vast majority seem to be in NYC. Otherwise I think it varies quite a lot.

blows my mind that we, as a society, are cool with entrusting untested law students with the power of prosecution

That didn't need to be anon, and I'm not sure how it's worse than entrusting untested law students with the responsibility of criminal defense.

Not my thread, but I am a rural DA. In order:pancakes3 wrote:which market? was your school in that market?

internships?
how hard did you have to hustle?
(1) my school was not in the market, but the job I got out of law school was a rural part of the state I'm from (New Mexico)
(2) I got paid $50k right out of law school then 1.5 years out jumped for a considerable raise in another rural district
(3) I was full on desperate after getting no-offered, but I love prosecution
(4) I had PD internships, which helped a lot
(5) absolutely 0 hustle required, just a willingness to love to places snooty law students hate
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
