First thing, my application is incredibly straight forward with no red flags (never been in trouble, arrested, etc.).
Long story short, I submitted my moral character application back in early November. After the receipt confirmation for my application was received, I didn't hear anything for a few months. Finally, in February I got the letter that my application was assigned to an analyst. Just to see if I could provide any further information to make it easier on my analyst, I reached out. I was told that my analyst had quit and no longer works as a state bar analyst, and that my application has not been reassigned. They told me to check back in a few weeks to see who my application had been assigned to. I did as they instructed, called back, and my case is still assigned to the analyst that no longer works there, and has not been reassigned. I spoke to a supervisor, who basically told me tough shit and there's nothing I can do to help get my application reviewed, and they'll get to it when they get to it. Well, now it's mid-May, it's been over 6 months, my case is STILL not reassigned, and the supervisor made it very clear not to contact them, and they would contact me if they needed anything.
I just graduated a week ago and will be starting biglaw in August, but am getting very nervous that my application is stuck in moral character purgatory and will never get reviewed/approved, meaning I can't be sworn in/my job could be in jeopardy.
Does anyone have any experience with such delays, or have any advice as to how I should proceed? The whole process seems incredibly archaic and stupid, and I'm at a loss for what, if anything, I can do.
The most frustrating parts is that I have many peers who have submitted their applications in March or April and have already heard back, usually within a few weeks.
