Re: Am I in trouble with CSO?
As someone who has worked in HR, I can't believe this actually happened. Is this a large or small company OP? The only way I could see this happening is if they were going to reschedule an interview and somehow found it, but even then idk. Make sure you can prove your emergency and own up to the mistake. Also don't tweet anything about applying/interviewing for a job ever.

Yes. We're always watching. And we agree. We must expose the conspiracy.Nekrowizard wrote:I am personally shocked, though I'm happy to admit that I know next to nothing about corporate HR and social media departments. Who goes through this much effort to harass some law student for seemingly no benefit? Is there a guy whose job it is to monitor negative tweets about the company and see that the tweeters get their comeuppance? You're probably lucky you didn't get black-bagged by some dudes in a van. You could be in a Coca-Cola black site by now, getting something spiky shoved up your urethra.Anonymous User wrote:yeah, you'd have to know the companies to get the joke. I can't believe they would see that tweet though and actually talk to CSO about it. CSO even wants documentation saying that my emergency was really an emergency and I just didn't skip my interview.

this is a fairly large company. I actually even took the time out to email the interviewer that I was not going to attend the interview because this emergency came up. I guess now they fail to believe me.

Tell the dean that you're sorry, you've deactivated your Twitter, but the company is being ridiculous, and straight up say you're happy to reactivate the Twitter if he the school wants to make a big deal about it.

Re: Am I in trouble with CSO?
OP is not in a position to make threats... not being able to participate in OCI could have very serious consequences. OP should be very apologetic and explain that it was an inside joke but that OP now realizes that it was a mistake and is very sorry for any difficulty it may have caused the school. You might also offer to write a letter explaining and apologizing to the company if it seems necessary. I agree it seems like a really minor thing to make a big deal out of, but you really don't want to get banned from using CSO resources. If you have to swallow your pride and show remorse, so be it.lacrossebrother wrote:Tell the dean that you're sorry, you've deactivated your Twitter, but the company is being ridiculous, and straight up say you're happy to reactivate the Twitter if he the school wants to make a big deal about it.

Show CSO proof of your emergency and the email you sent to the interviewer to corroborate. If they still end up taking away your OCI privileges, you have little to lose at that point. You could threaten to share this ridiculous story with ATL. I'm sure they would enjoy it.Anonymous User wrote:OP HERE: I know it sounds so funny, but all of this is serious, this is not a flame!
If CSO decides to take away my OCI privileges, what do I do? First amendment arguments? I have a feeling they value their relationship with that company and aren't willing to let me off easy.

The fact that three (3) law school administrators are taking time to meet with you about this is a great example of how bloated and pointless higher ed administration is overall.

Re: Am I in trouble with CSO?
In the OP, you wrote that "I later post on twitter that I didn't interview with X company because of my love for Y (rival) company." Is that really all your tweet said? Or was it perhaps a little more insulting than that? I feel like we're missing something.
