Because it's a professional school that's aimed at getting people jobs. Anything that a student does that hurts relations with employers is something that concerns them. They're just going to ask you to explain and then tell you how poorly it reflects upon you and the school. Don't worry. The literally worst that can happen is that they ban you from using the CSO resources.

Is there a guy whose job it is to monitor negative tweets about the company and see that the tweeters get their comeuppance? You're probably lucky you didn't get black-bagged by some dudes in a van. So I had an externship interview with a local company (Company X). I couldn't make it to the interview because of a family emergency. I later post on twitter that I didn't interview with X company because of my love for Y (rival) company. This was just an attempt at humor, the real reason why I had to cancel the interview was an emergency. My twitter was private at the time of this tweet and only my followers were able to see it. Recently and stupidly made my twitter public to claim an american express deal.

If this is a troll, the bolded is my favorite part. Actually, even if this is not a troll, the bolded is still my favorite part. Also, lol@Company X scouring twitter for weeks-old tweets from extern applicants.

How about you wait until you start freaking out? There is no way they are going to exclude you from OCI over a dumb tweet. You should also ask them how the company noticed your tweet, and report back.

Two points:
1. Doubtful anything happens to you. Worst case scenario, CSO blackballs you from using their resources. You just have to get interviews via mass mailing rather than OCI. But I doubt that happens if you have a valid excuse and are capable of explaining the situation in an intelligent, respectful manner.
2. It's good that you deactivated twitter. This is a good lesson on how not to use social media. Best to think before you post something online. Unless you're anonymous. Then milk that shit for all it's worth.
