Compliance Work at Goldman/Citi
Are these jobs strong? High paying? Will they lead to big money and exit options? Or, are they not as hyped up as LinkedIn makes them sound?

They are big and strong. Practically in-house but on a more detailed level. Not sure about big money, but the pay at the companies you mentioned should be decent along with their benefits.

As with all things, it depends. I don't know about positions searching for JD's, but i know at least a large portion of compliance gets lumped in with operations groups, which means anything below VP isn't going to be very well paying (think $50k-ish).

It's usually much better to enter compliance after a few year as a practicing lawyer since you can come in at a much higher level. Entry level compliance positions are usually not particularly well paying, but higher level positions tend to pay well and have great hours. These programs seem to be a good alternative for those who struck out at Biglaw but still want to work with the financial industry. For those who have Biglaw options, it's better to take the Biglaw job and try to get a compliance job in a few years.

Starting for a JD entry level compliance with Citi is 95k salary (2014) + signing bonus + 5-20% bonus. Also, VP is meaningless for these positions. JDs make VP in TWO years at Citi.Anonymous User wrote:As with all things, it depends.
