Hi there, hoping you smart people can give me some insight:
I'm a 2L, I have a small office big law summer gig lined up (with the implication of an offer after graduation)- only problem: it's not in the market I want. Like other side of the country. It was the only one that popped for me during OCI, so I took it.
What should I be doing to break into the market I want? It's a smaller market with 5 big law regional offices (none from my summer firm); I'm above median/beneath top third at a t14.
How is it viewed to be cold calling firms when you have a summer gig with another firm in another market? Would the summer firm be bothered if it found out (burn bridge kind of thing)?
Also, anyone here participate in OCI as a 3L with any luck?
I'm currently seeking a state Supreme Court clerkship in my desired market-- good idea, bad idea?
Basically, am I taking crazy pills to be cold calling and seeking out of market clerkship a when I already have a very good gig lined up?
