Do firms look at previous employment when hiring SAs?
Starting law school Fall 2016 and as the title suggests, I'm wondering if firms who interview 1Ls for SA positions would at all care about previous employment. I'm 1 year out of undergrad and have worked in 3 law firms of varying sizes, as an intern and as a file clerk. Nothing fancy but showed me how various sized law offices with different practices function. Other than your first semester grades, could such factors give one an advantage whatsoever or would they generally not matter?

1. 0Ls are not supposed to post in the legal employment forum.lawsohard93 wrote:Starting law school Fall 2016 and as the title suggests, I'm wondering if firms who interview 1Ls for SA positions would at all care about previous employment. 2. Yes, law firms definitely care about previous employment. Probably more for 1L SAs than 2L SAs. The kind of work experience that sticks out, however, is not the kind you have. Law firms like hiring people who worked in ibanking, at top-tier consulting firms, in relevant jobs for IP work, or other high-end work experience.

Oops, sorry about that, should have read the rules first. I'll go ahead and post this in the relevant forum, thanks for the reply though!
