Poll: Are you satisfied with your Big Law job?
I feel like we are getting a lot of extremes on the thread titled "so you want to be a corporate lawyer". While that is a good thread, in a long convo like that it is easy to get distracted by the longer intense posts. I am entering into big law summer associate this summer and am trying to gauge whether there are some either happy or kind of happy people. or if every single person is miserable but hiding it.
This is a poll where I am hoping people who have been working in big law for at least 6 months (i had to pick a cut off somewhere) could just post whether they are satisfied or not. I figure everyone is enamored with a new job for at least a little, so i think its probably better to restrict votes to those who have been in it long enough to see what life is like.
If they want to respond with a why, that would be great. Though, I think it is best to refrain from commenting on other people's comments because then it turns silly. If this doesn't work, i'll just delete. I thought it might at least give those of us entering big law a chance to see an off the cuff response to the question of, "are you satisfied with your job?"

I knew drinking and TLSing was an awful idea.
Sorry, OP. I voted before reading your post since the title didn't specify BigLaw. Please disregard my vote.

Lots of people hate big law. We know that because there are lots of posts about it on TLS. Will that be you? You'll find out in 2 years or so. Soon enough. So I'm not sure what this thread is for. Will it cause you to change your plan in any way, shape, or form?

Op, you should set it to allow revoting.
Voters should blank bump (non anon) when they vote a la dick measuring thread in the lounge.

I have an awesome biglaw job where I am given plenty of responsibility, have an extraordinary teacher, the hours don't suck and the exit options are plenty
a rarity, I'm sure, but I'm set

I don't mind the work as of right now. Kinda boring, but whatever. Hours aren't too terrible. I dislike it because I'm not getting very much mentorship and the older associates seems to have no interest in taking me under there wing. I get it, they want to get home to their family. But still kind of sucks. The partners are all, for the most part, actually really cool. Could be a bad fit.

Because I want a better sample and quite frankly, even though those individuals that do not HATE or LOVE their big law experiences are less likely to comment on a thread because it takes more effort, they may be more likely to vote since it is easier. and their experiences are just as relevant to seeing how the users of TLS feel about their jobs in big law.BigZuck wrote:Lots of people hate big law.
