Latham offered you a SA spot in March?Anonymous User wrote:Got offered a SA spot at Latham & Watkins in SF and was curious just to know its reputation in the Bay Area as well as who are the heavy hitters in that region. From my understanding, MoFo is top dog in SF and I just wanted to know more about the other major players in SF

I know 5 or 6 associates there and I practice in SF. L&W is legit. If you want to PM me, I can give you info re: office culture and practice area emphasis.Anonymous User wrote:Got offered a SA spot at Latham & Watkins in SF and was curious just to know its reputation in the Bay Area as well as who are the heavy hitters in that region. MOFO is big here because it's SF-based. But prestige is really idiosyncratic and really only comes into play when you're getting hired out of law school or lateraling.

This is a 1L offer? What does "top dog" mean to you? Is there a metric for that?

imho, LW SF is a much stronger outcome than Mofo SF. Mofo has an exceptionally sweatshoppy rep here, and if you look at chambers and partners, you'll find they lag behind Latham and Gibson in a number of bands.Anonymous User wrote:Got offered a SA spot at Latham & Watkins in SF and was curious just to know its reputation in the Bay Area as well as who are the heavy hitters in that region.
