I keep hearing about 1L diversity SA/ fellowships for biglaw. Are there similar opportunities for 2Ls? Are there advantages to these positions compared to a regular SA? I am at a T2 that doesn't have a great OCI program and places <10% in biglaw so I would like to know what all my possible options are. I am definitely not set on Biglaw as a career, but I would love the experience and to get paid one of these summers. Are there any specific law firms that are known to offer this type of opportunity in Boston/ New York?
Part 2 of my question. I am half hispanic with an anglo last name, though I look fairly hispanic (think a slightly lighter Romeo Santos). Would that fly for a diversity fellowship? I consider myself to be hispanic, I was born in a latin american country and my parents still live there. But I get worried that someone is going to not take an application seriously that says "hispanic" with a name equivalent to Dan Smith.
Thanks for any input.

Re: 2L Diversity SA Positions
Google diversity fellowship law firm. Try other similar searches.
The advantage is that it is another place to apply to besides the OCI firms. An added bonus is that a small few also provide extra money... Like here's an extra 10k for your 3L tuition.
If you want BigLaw and your school has a crappy OCI, you need to hustle beyond diversity fellowships.

Thanks for the info, that is what I figured. I guess I had mostly heard of diversity fellowships in reference to 1L summer.
Anyone have any insight on the half hispanic with anglo name thing?
