Hi all,
Wanted to get your overall thoughts about transactional healthcare law- current demand/environment, future demand, where it is headed as a field etc? Any good resources for this area? Also what are the top areas/law firms that focus on this area? Lastly for someone that has been doing corporate m&a, how vastly different would this specialty be and making a possible transition?
Thanks for any help and insights!

Re: Healthcare law?
Can't speak for the current demand/future growth other than anecdotal stories that healthcare demand isn't going to slow anytime soon, will only increase.
As far as firms go: I've always heard McDermott is top/one of the top for healthcare. Other firms that come to mind are Nixon Peabody, Polsinelli, King and Spalding, Morgan Lewis, Husch Blackwell, etc. there are more just can't think of them right now, others are free to chime in.
Note: not in healthcare practice but was considering going into which lead to me researching a bit about it.

Here's a 2013 list of firms by number of healthcare lawyers. Little out of date, and list for 2015 is behind a paywall (I think Polsinelli is #1 now though). Helps you get an idea of the firms.

Re: Healthcare law?
AHLA is indisputably the resource you're looking for. Switching from corporate to healthcare is not an unnatural transitition; however, many of the things that "make sense" from a business perspective are prohibited under federal and state laws and regulations.smr00 wrote:Hi all,

The current market is very hot. Many firms are looking for trans/reg mid-levels and some are looking for juniors. The AHLA job board gives a decent snapshot.
