Boy, there sure is nothing worse than a blank piece of paper that I know is going to be a cover letter sent out to 100000000000 law firms globally. I get writer's block instantly whenever I pull up the document.
I was hoping for some general tips (aside from the troves of ones I can and have found on google) on how to write the perfect cover letter for mass mailing. I am desperate for some good advice.

Also, just google "2L Cover Letters" (or whatever year you are)... many schools' career service will have samples. Piece meal the portions you like together, add some personal details, and you are good to go.
