I and other 2Ls have been getting emails from firms about attending recruiting events for 1Ls, small meet and greets, lunches and dinners for incoming SAs, etc.
Would skipping/saying no to these jeopardize chances of receiving return offers? Thanks.

No. You can use distance as an excuse. I'd imagine it would be awkward to go to office parties when you don't know anyone, and nobody will notice you're not there. For the most part anything low profile is good, because you have to stand out to get no offered.
