As a soon-to-be summer at a wilmington firm, I was hoping the potential increase in NY would increase wilmington firm salaries. Didn't expect it to just happen in wilmington first.

Kind of absolutely regretting cancelling my callback at Morris Nichols to accept my NY firm offer.

What are the odds this will influence the other "big 4" firms, I wonder...

I'm not sure about RLF, but Potter and Young might actually have financial qualms about matching this. That's a not-insignificant bump.

True. Honestly I still think $145k is quite generous considering COL in DE is far less than in NY.

Kind of related, I've been hearing that NY biglaw gets the best deals in the country because that's where the major deals happen. This makes sense. But in a world where e-mail and the internet exist, is this still true? Is the "best" transactional work still being done in NY? With offices in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, and Philadelphia paying $160k, what's the real benefit of NY biglaw other than the "headline" cases?

Do they actually have lower PPP than RLF and MNAT

No it won't. Unless and until top candidates start turning down NY in favor of Wilmington, the bump in DE will have no effect on NY

Oh shit maybe I shouldn't have turned down my DE offer. Granted it was Young Conaway. NYC needs to go up to 190k asap.

I'm legit hitting Philly and DE hard as a 3L. I'd prefer to live in nyc but I've got loans to pay and both of those cities are cheap and more tax favourable.

I got hired as a 3L by one of the big four without SA there (or anywhere). Extremely excited with this new development.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
