Eventually I think I want to work at a State Attorney's Office or as a DA. Last summer (0L) I worked two internships: one in the felony mental health division of my local SAO and another helping a law professor at my undergrad's law school with research related to DV/SA. I also did some earlier internships related to legal aid and juvenile court (something I'd love to get involved in again).
What types of positions should I be applying for for my 1L summer? I may be limited to my geographic area (DC) because I have to go part time second semester for health reasons and might have to take make up classes. Otherwise, the area I'm really interested in eventually practicing is Boston. Is the location I'm in for 1L important? And what types of positions for 1L make it likely that I would be successful in securing these types of jobs after graduation?
