Drug testing for California County Attorney Jobs

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Dec 04, 2015 3:23 am

I've recently been offered a job working as an attorney for one of the counties in California. As part of the pre-employment process, I was informed that the county will arrange for me to get "medical clearance." At first, I thought nothing of it - but upon further considering I began to wonder whether or not medical clearance also includes drug testing.

Does anyone who is familiar with the employment process for county employees know what is meant by "medical clearance?" It appears from what I've been able to find is that certain "safety sensitive" positions require drug testing under federal law and county policies, but I cannot find anything definitive.
