California C&F Reference Questions
Does anyone know what questions are asked on the CA Moral Character reference forms? I've heard some states ask just a general question about whether the reference thinks the person is of good character, while other states ask specific questions that mirror those on the actual application. Does anyone know about California, specifically?

Re: California C&F Reference Questions
I filled out a reference form for a friend close to a year ago, so my memory is a little hazy... but IIRC it's pretty generic.
They do ask you how long you've known the candidate, I think, which I'm guessing is supposed to line up with what was answered by the candidate in his/her bar application.

They ask questions like whether the person knows if you've ever been arrested, fired, done anything fraudulent or deceitful, been addicted to drugs, etc. (they ask you these same types of questions). And then they ask if the person "unequivocally" recommends you for a job that requires trust and responsibility.

Do you know if they ask about any transgressions while in undergrad? I'm a little concerned about using friends from college as references for this reason. I had a sensitive incident occur that I am not required to disclose, but it's possible a reference might mention it because he or she doesn't know how the matter was handled.Pleasye wrote:They ask questions like whether the person knows if you've ever been arrested, fired, done anything fraudulent or deceitful, been addicted to drugs, etc. (they ask you these same types of questions). Don't use people from undergrad then? But no, they don't ask specifics like that. I basically gave you all the categories of questions that they ask. It just depends if your "transgressions" fit into any of those categories (especially the broad ones like the one about addiction or ever violating the law).Anonymous User wrote:Do you know if they ask about any transgressions while in undergrad?
