Gibson Dunn NYC v Ropes & Gray NYC Corporate

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Oct 31, 2015 12:32 pm

What are people's thoughts on the corporate practices of Gibson and Ropes in their NYC offices.

I know that Ropes is known for its Boston based pricate equity practice. I don't know much about Gibson's NYC practice. Gibson seems to do a sole work with banks and public companies. But not sure how much of that is in NYC as compared to LA.

Exit options are always unknown, but thoughts on if the differences between the two will be noticeably different from the outset?

Thank you in advance.

Are you choosing as a 2L or a 3L?

Gibson Dunn is better than Ropes & Gray for NYC Corporate practice, according to Chambers and Partners, which is based largely on clients' perceptions and recent work. Vault, which is an associate peer survey, also ranks GDC higher than Ropes both for NYC regional reputation and General Corporate reputation. So why not work at the firm with better reputation, unless other compelling reasons exist?
