Advice on Employment
If I have a choice between a low ranked V100 firm and a position with a DA's office for 2L summer, which is the better choice? I do intend on applying for a federal clerkship, but that's obviously never guaranteed.

Re: Advice on Employment
Well it depends, what are your post clerkship goals? I'm inclined to say that unless youre really feeling the PI feels (which I dont think you are by that nature of your question), you should take the SA because you really want a job. Even if their offer rate is less than desirable. Not completely sure how DA hiring works, but I don't believe they usually grant offers of permanent employment at the end of the summer like BigLaw does. Obv you know not to bank of federal clerkships.

Hmm...yea that's more or less what I was leaning towards. In terms of longer term career prospects I'd imagine the biglaw firm is probably better too? Even if it's a low V100 firm?

Going to a v5 and getting chewed out after a year won't be very good. Go where you think you'll fit in and get opportunities.

Did the low V100 just get back to you in the last few weeks or something?

I would take the $30k now. One Biglaw summer won't foreclose an opportunity with the DA's office post-clerkship, assuming you land one.
