Not sure what the rules are on this, and I don't want to ask in my interview and make myself seem disinterested.
But, does anyone have any insight on whether you can be a part-time clerk at the Fed. District Court and work part time at a small firm (which has no matters before the federal court)?
The District Court externship (part-time) obviously looks better on the resume, and will be good(?) experience. However, I work part time at a small firm and legitimately need the money (personal/family reasons). Big city/large district.
FWIW, I have a biglaw summer associate position lined up doing lit. And timing won't be an issue, my firm lets me come in whenever to do my work - its all research and writing, and I can do it on weekends or days off from externship.
Does anyone have any insight on this?

Re: Judicial Extern and Part-Time gig
As someone who currently externs for a federal district court, the clerks won't care if they're already willing to hire you part-time.
