Send my resume or wait for Dec 1st?
I've been put in contact with a senior partner at a Vault firm and was asked to forward my resume to him for a possible 1l summer SA. As a 1l I was informed that I wasn't allowed to send my resume to anyone until Dec 1st. I feel like this is an opportunity I shouldn't miss (T25 school so only about 1/3 of my class will get biglaw), but I don't want to somehow be sanctioned by my school or the ABA if they were to find out.

Send it. You're not formally applying to anything, you're fine. HR won't consider it until Dec 1st if it's a problem. Make sure you look up law sample resumes and follow the format, you don't want to be sending in a shoddy resume just because you didn't have the advantage of having a career counselor look over it.

Ill echo that so OP knows it is not isolated speculation.
The NALP Guidelines apply to applications, not networking, and what you're describing sounds squarely on the networking side of that line.

This is networking, you are fine to send. But don't be surprised if this progresses and partner (who almost certainly doesn't know NALP rules) goes to HR and says we can't touch this til December 1 (or, more likely, when you have actual grades)

If someone asks for your resume, send it to them. Dont worry about NALP.

Gotta be a T20 instead of T25 to have 1/3 biglaw.Anonymous User wrote:I've been put in contact with a senior partner at a Vault firm and was asked to forward my resume to him for a possible 1l summer SA. Not to disclose my school but we have a 37% BL + FC (Ok I guess 30% Biglaw isn't exactly 1/3)
