Non-firm 2L summer options

For those of us striking out it's time to look at alternatives.

Why are you automatically ruling out a firm job? There are lots of firms that don't hire through OCI. Start looking at midsize and smaller firms. That way if you end up doing 3L OCI you at least have relevant experience.

Not really interested in working at a firm tbh.

Looking to explore JD jobs that aren't firm jobs OR non law jobs that hire JDs for the summer (like the big 4 accounting firms). Looking in the private sector.

Well, I guess I can't offer government as an option anymore...

Some companies have in-house counsel opportunities for 2Ls like car companies, red bull, NFL, etc. I would try to look for those opportunities. Keep in mind that getting a post-grad position as in-house counsel is hella difficult.

As said above, in-house is a good way to go.

Big 4 too. Although it's not private sector, some judges hire 2Ls to work for the summer, and some other people have been known to work at places like the Screen Actors Guild or other organizations of a similar nature.

Interested....what are people looking to do now? No idea what I should be looking at or where and CSO hasn't provided any guidance.
