Cried accepting an offer
So I recently received an offer from my dream firm. However, I'm afraid the manner in which I accepted makes me look desperate. I cried when I received the phone call and accepted on the spot.
Should I be concerned?

No. Congrats. They probably understand, and your fate has loooong been out of the hands of a recruiter.

There's nothing you can do about it now, OP, so just try to forget about it and don't let it make you awkward in the future.

OP hereDesert Fox wrote:Yea this is supremely weird behavior and people will mercilessly shittalk you for it. Hopefully whoever you cried to will be a good person and not tell anyone. But I'd laugh so fucking hard about this.

In the future, you'll learn that crying should be done alone at 10 p.m. in one's office, particularly when working at one's "dream firm."

Think about it this way, that's the only time that law firm has ever made anyone that happy.

How does this work in a shared office? Should I ask my officemate to leave if I need a good 10PM cry? Trying to prepare for the inevitable hererpupkin wrote:In the future, you'll learn that crying should be done alone at 10 p.m. in one's office, particularly when working at one's "dream firm."

Re: Cried accepting an offer
At the end of the day, this is a business. The entire role of the nightmare you've gone through is to furnish the queen bees with worker bees. While the gatekeepers are important, your career is going to be decided by the queen bees. All that matters is if they want to work with you, and trust you, which will be determined by your work, not whether they think you're a weirdo right now. Even what you do as a summer will be largely forgotten unless it's abysmal, because it's so trivial to the overall case/deal, and your summer will largely be a "do you suck" test. Instead of obsessing about every detail of these things, realize that your entire career right now is based on a yes/no questionnaire. It doesn't really matter if you are the #1 choice or the last one in. No one cares that Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. All that matters is what you do once you get there.
