Absolutely no word from law firm after I accepted... Normal?
I accepted a SA offer back in mid-September from a V-10 and heard absolutely nothing from them ever since. Is that standard? I was expecting to get some sort of acceptance confirmation or something like that. Similar experience anyone?

How did you accept? I sent the read receipt on my emails just to make sure they were read. I would guess no news is good news?

Mid September???? That was so long ago! Mass mail, now!
Chill. It'll be okay.

OP here. Yeah I should probably chill... I was curious if that was everyone's experience though.

Why not just send them an email to the effect of:
Dear Recruiting Coordinator:
I'm excited to start next summer, and I just wanted to check in and made sure there is nothing I need to be doing now to prepare. Do you have any idea what practice group I'll be as I start preparing my course schedule next semester?
Basically, just try to find a non-asskissing reason to email them and ask a question/make yourself look good.

OP. Thanks for the input guys, but I'm just trying to find out how common my situation is. Anything on that?

from my experience that seems uncommon. I'd follow-up with whoever you sent your confirmation to a few weeks ago. I doubt it actually indicates that there's a problem but it's certainly not unreasonable/pushy to ask for a confirmation that everything was received.

Mine was dead silent after I called to accept. I eventually wrote to follow up with recruiting and they were like "thanks for confirming your acceptance. we don't need anything from you til next year. live long and prosper"

This is standard for V10s.Anonymous User wrote:I accepted a SA offer back in mid-September from a V-10 and heard absolutely nothing from them ever since. Is that standard? I was expecting to get some sort of acceptance confirmation or something like that. Similar experience anyone?

Everything is almost certainly fine but you would not be out of line if you gave them a call to confirm they got your acceptance.

From my experience (admittedly not at a V10) I got emails from both partners I interviewed with that evening and I got a confirmation letter and email maybe a week later. I assume the V10 has their shit together but it can't hurt to double check.

Yep. The V5s send full packet by fed ex the day after verbal acceptance of an offer, but the V6-10 firms are infamous for their lack of communication. As many of us know, the V7 and V9 firms will often "thin the herd" by denying that they actually made offers to everyone. If these firms get too many acceptances, they'll play dumb come springtime: "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but we never extended a formal offer to you."tyrant_flycatcher wrote:This is standard for V10s.Anonymous User wrote:I accepted a SA offer back in mid-September from a V-10 and heard absolutely nothing from them ever since. TL;DR: If you're at a V6, V8, or V10, you're fine; but if you're at a V7 or V9, get official confirmation NOW.

I accepted an offer mid-August from a V10 and got a confirmation letter via snail mail maybe last week. If your firm sends these, it might just take forever.

I'd say email. Good to have a record of the convo. I'd be direct and ask for confirmation of the offer from the recruiting coordinator. If they don't respond in a couple days, call. They will not revoke your offer because you politely asked for confirmation. Most likely, your offer will not go away if you do nothing, but why take the chance?

Yeah - I felt forgotten for a bit afterwards. Don't worry about it - they'll get in touch eventually.

After accepting at a V30, I received an email and letter via snail mail. I'd send an email asking for confirmation that they received your acceptance and that there is nothing further you need to do.

I didn't get any word until the next February, when they asked for my conflicts.
But if you are neurotic about it (which is understandable), take the advice upstream and email one of the associates on the summer committee if they have any scheduling suggestions, or ask HR if they had any advice on finding an apartment.
Actually, come to think of it, I asked if they could tell me who else had accepted/had pending offers from my school.

They might invite you to a Xmas holiday party or so.

The next time you will hear from them is when they send out the Christmas party invites.
