Insurance Defense Staff Counsel Internships
So I'm interested in a staff counsel 2L summer internship at an insurance company that can possibly turn into an offer for after law school. I am looking at the major insurance companies like Geico, Allstate, Travelers, and Nationwide. How do you guys think one can go about getting one of these internships. They all use captive law firms, should I go through the captive firm managing attorneys to try to get a position or go through the insurance company? anyone have any experience with this?

Hey,Anonymous User wrote:anyone?
I went through the firm itself. The insurance company is corporate, obviously. The corporate online portals are awful, etc. But be wary...because these are technically corporate positions rather than positions with the private firm that is employed by X insurance company, offers are not always guaranteed, even if they loved you. I worked in-house at a large insurance company starting my 2L summer and continued through graduation. They couldn't extend me an offer until a position opened up....because corporate said so. Just a heads up. Best of luck!
