Three people (that I know of, maybe more) at my firm turned us down, summered somewhere else, got no-offered, and then came back to us. Better to have someone to call when that happens, even if it's in a city or at a firm you're not into right now.

Re: Just go ahead and do all your CBs and get offers
I had to decline several interviews and, at two of the firms, when I called to tell the partners who I'd hit it off with, they both told me to keep them in mind if I ever wanted to make a change and that they'd always be happy to hear from me. I don't know how much of that is just polite smoke being blown, but felt good to hear and definitely made me feel like I had lain some lateral prospects if the firm I chose didn't end up working out or fitting right.
So, yea, I agree with the above - it sucks to keep going on CBs even after you have an offer you want, but this may be a good time to lay some ground work for your future. That may not be true in NY, but I think it can be in smaller markets.

Counterpoint, don't waste my time interviewing here if you won't accept an offer.

Yeah kind of pathetic when you think about it.Desert Fox wrote:It's weird that firms will take your sloppy seconds but I've heard it happen several times. It's odd.dixiecupdrinking wrote:Counterpoint, don't waste my time interviewing here if you won't accept an offer.
