Are my odds of receiving an offer from a callback i got around a month after OCI lower than if I had gotten the CB right after OCI during the first wave from this firm?

Second string doesnt bother me haha. I just want the job. Do really you think this means they are desperate?

They are desperate in the sense that they probably did CBs and offers to the first round of people they really wanted, and they still had an open spot or two because some people didn't accept their offers. So you are not their first choice of candidate, but they wouldn't have given you a CB unless they needed someone to fill the spot and considered you somewhat qualified

edit: and your odds at getting an offer are entirely dependent on how many people they are doing callbacks with for those extra spots. If they are only doing 3 CBs for 1 extra spot, then you obviously have better odds than them doing 15 cbs for 3-4 spots
