CSM, S&C, Skadden, or Cleary?
Sorry for another one of these. I don't have any specific practice area interest (not even sure between shitigation and corp). I liked the people I met at S&C and Cleary the most. I realize S&C has a reputation, but I somehow think I'd fit in there well (and I prefer downtown over midtown). CSM is probably out because they seem to really push you to choose between corp and lit very quickly. I also liked the people at Skadden, and they were definitely the friendliest. But maybe they were a little too friendly for my tastes. Is there anything else I should look at? They all feel so similar otherwise (except for the CSM rotations, which I'm neutral about. I guess the training would be better...?).

If you liked S&C and Cleary best, choose between them. I'd probably choose Cleary in that situation, but there's not a wrong choice here.

S&C won't make you choose between litigation / corporation before you start?

Skadden is worlds better than the oTTTher options.

pls explain why. Is it the size? The international reach? I also think Skadden may give you your own office as a junior associate (not entirely sure on this. Should have asked). I also liked the gym at Skadden. The others didn't have gyms, as far as I could tell.

It does. But it sounds like you like S&C the most in several aspects, so you should go there. All great firms.

I was mostly joking, but I did have similar choices and went with Skadden. A few things in particular impressed me about them. International reach/breadth of practice areas/depth of talent. Also the people seemed way nicer than the alternatives. But you do seem like you had a great impression from S&C, so that might be best for you. Good luck whatever you choose!Anonymous User wrote:pls explain why. Is it the size? The international reach? S&C has a gym. Their old gym was destroyed by Sandy, but they just reopened a new one (in the basement, I think).Anonymous User wrote:pls explain why. Is it the size? The international reach? The skadden gym is sweet but the firms that don't have one on site give you a big enough stipend to join essentially any gym you want, which is arguably preferable.

The Skadden gym was definitely way sweet (they were also the only ones to do a nice little tour of the gym and cafeteria). I'd appreciate a stipend, but having something onsite is a big plus for me. The hassle of going somewhere else, especially if I'm pretty busy, is sometimes too much for me.
