Dechert v Cadwalader v Katten (all NYC)
Looking to do transactional work, probably M&A or finance. Trying to make this decision based on more than just vault ranking. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Buddy of mine went to Cadwalder in 2012 and fucking hates his life. Terrible hours, shitty partners, not great work.

Dechert and its not close. Cadwalader can talk all they want about improving their culture, but people on the inside still speak the truth.

Didn't Cadwalader's Chairman and M&A leader abruptly pack up and leave this past year? And neither firm has a great AmLaw midlevel survey, but Cadwalader is listed at 102 (http://www.americanlawyer.com/law-firm- ... m+%26+Taft).
It's a great firm for derivatives/securitization, but unless you're dead set on that, I would avoid. Or if you really need to be in FiDi.

Yeah he left to start an investment firm or something. As far as the midlaw survey, Cadwalader was 14 nationally and 9th in NY, so a big jump from its 102 rating. No clue why.
