Weil v. Gibson v. Latham v. White & Case (NY)

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:32 pm

I'm fortunate to have received offers from the above four firms, and all of these offers are for the firms' NY offices. Almost entirely certain I want lit (although I'll try out corporate work during the summer just to see), and would like to exit to exit to government at some point down the road, if possible, although I realize how competitive these AUSA, etc. positions are.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on which firm has the strongest lit practice overall. More specifically, I'm interested in white collar work, commercial lit, and possibly securities. Also wondering which would provide me with the best exit options for gov work (again, recognizing the difficulties of landing one of those jobs). Family is from Chicago but for now I definitely want to stay in NY since my fiancé is here and I worked for a start-up here for a number of years before law school, so a lot of my friends/contacts are in the area as well. As a side note, though, if in the future I were looking to transfer offices, is one of these firms more amenable than the others to allowing that switch?

Thanks in advance for your help!

1) "Lit" is such an amorphous desire. You'll get better advice if you're much more specific.
2) Something something cream don't go to white and case.

bump...two of my offers are set to expire so if anyone has any thoughts id be tremendously appreciative.

also worth noting that i did second looks at everywhere except white & case. different cultures, i realize, but i liked the people at all of them, and definitely didn't feel put off by anyone i met at any of the firms
