No-Offer after 1L summer
So I summered at a biglaw firm after my 1L year, but go no-offered. My whole time there, they gave me the impression that I was for sure going to get an offer to come back the next summer, so I'm not sure what happened. I have two questions:
1. Should I email/call the recruiter and ask her the reason I didn't get an offer? Or does that look pushy?
2. How bad does that look for my chances of getting another biglaw clerkship my 2L summer?
Thanks in advance.

Re: No-Offer after 1L summer
I wish this could be scrawled across the front page of this blog: 1L summer means nothing.
Do not write the recruiter. Don't bid the firm 2L OCI. Talk about the experience with the firms you do bid, what you learned, did, etc. They will not ask or care if/ why you did not get an offer because it was 1L summer. It means nothing.

I hope you're already in the application and hiring cycle for 2L summer. Your post makes it sound like you haven't applied and if that is true you need to do so ASAP because hiring is well under way and for some firms is almost complete.

Re: No-Offer after 1L summer
I think almost everyone asked me whether or not I got offers from my 1L firms (not necessarily saying they cared or just wanted to know whether I was just wasting their time), so if I were you, I'd go with the "lie and say you weren't eligible for an offer" for $500.

about 5/20 firms asked if I had received an offer to go back to my 1L biglaw firm. If you were no-offered, just fucking say you weren't eligible for one dude.

Yea -- agreed with most of the above. Almost everyone asked me, but I doubt the firms care enough to double check

A lot of the diversity 1L programs specifically state that the candidate is not eligible for a 2L offer. Weil is an example of one I remember specifically.Anonymous User wrote:not eligible because....?

I did the whole OCI thing, but just heard back from the firm yesterday that I didn't get an offer. That's why I am just asking now.
