I moved to a different state than where I was initially licensed and practicing, and just had to take the new state's July bar exam. Just starting to apply to jobs now, and wondering, if you're waiting on bar exam results, do you still apply to the job postings that require bar passage?
Thanks!

I would think so. I only wouldn't if they explicitly specify that you have to know your results, though I doubt this would ever actually occur. Most people who have secured a job by graduation are for Bar Passage Required jobs.

Thanks for the response! I'm asking because I'm seeing a lot of "Must have membership in good standing in X state bar" and it's making me question whether I should be applying to these positions, or if it's a waste of time until I get my results back in a few months.

Depends upon the particular situation. Some need an immediate hire with a specific state bar membership in which case your resume is likely to be trashed if still awaiting bar results.

If non-government, YES. If a place likes you and could spare some time to wait for your bar results, they'll bring you in.SortOfObsessed wrote:I moved to a different state than where I was initially licensed and practicing, and just had to take the new state's July bar exam. Government, no. Don't waste your time. They will look at your file and just toss it.
