So...Second Looks?
Hi all,
I know that I'm in a great position, and I'm not taking that for granted. But since others may be in this position as well, I was wondering if you guys had experience with second looks. Specifically:
What's the layout? What format did you find most productive?
What questions did you ask, that you couldn't ask at the callback?
If the firm sugarcoated the tough answers the first time, why wouldn't they again?
Any other specific tips or wisdom would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm super aspie and concerned that this will take an interview format. Worth going to if you have crippling social anxiety?

You survived a screener and then four or five interviews at a callback. You're probably not as bad as you think you are.Anonymous User wrote:I'm super aspie and concerned that this will take an interview format. Worth going to if you have crippling social anxiety?

Not the anon you quoted, so won't speak for them. But, from experience, its plenty doable to survive 30 min increments despite having a pretty off-putting personality.tyrant_flycatcher wrote:You survived a screener and then four or five interviews at a callback. Is it just me or would some firms consider it odd if you don't do a second look? A bunch of younger associates have already started inviting me to do one, even though I never mentioned it.

Are there certain things I should be asking or looking for on second looks? Trying to differentiate firms online is hard so would like to make the most of these second looks.

Re: So...Second Looks?
They gave you an offer, they want you to accept it. A second look gives them the chance to convince you to accept, but if you accept the offer without doing a second look they'll be just as happy and a few thousand dollars richer.instride91 wrote:Is it just me or would some firms consider it odd if you don't do a second look? Re: So...Second Looks?
Interested in this as well. What type of questions are we supposed to ask during second looks?

Re: So...Second Looks?
The second look is totally for you. You're no longer being tested, you have the offer so just don't do anything clinically stupid that could jeopardize it or cause someone to remember you. So focus more on what you're looking for and your concerns than some generic common wisdom about how to do it "right." Ask about the practice groups you want, what actual work juniors have had the opportunity to do, ask about cases/clients and see if they're interesting. Try to get at what chambers wont tell you already.

Do firms pay for second looks? I have one scheduled this week, but the recruiter didn't mention anything about travel.
