Except that one time that firm... I think it was GDC... "forgot" about someone because his grades dropped to a B+ average. It was well documented on TLS. He ended up working there but he had to pester GDC for stuff in ways other incoming associates did not.Biglaw_Associate_V20 wrote:You will hear nothing for a long time. Then you will hear something.
Don't worry, they won't forget about you.

Also, there was that one time that Quinn rescinded an offer because a future summer sent too many thank-you emails.Old Gregg wrote:Except that one time that firm... I think it was GDC... But I guess Quinn doesn't have a legit summer program any more, so no need to worry about that.

There was also that DPW summer associate who had an offer rescinded for not sending a thank you note. Apparently didn't fit in with the "nice" vibes of the firm.Biglaw_Associate_V20 wrote:Also, there was that one time that Quinn rescinded an offer because a future summer sent too many thank-you emails.Old Gregg wrote:Except that one time that firm... So I actually wanted to preference my question by making clear that I wasn't talking about NYC brokersDesert Fox wrote:No other market has renters paying a brokers fee.thesealocust wrote:NYC will often cover brokers fees up to a certain dollar amount if you're relocating. Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I've been wondering about this. Is it 145K for the stub year (start date -> Dec of stub year), then 160K for the following Jan-Dec, and then a bump to 170 the year after? I haven't been able to get a single clear answer about this, and it would really help for budgeting purposes to hear from those of you who are first/second/third+ years in NYC.Old Gregg wrote:Nope. Every associate gets a raise at the same time. And it's almost always not during the summer.I thought they happened in the summer
Thanks!

No. It's $160k for the stub year (or at least would be if you worked there for the full year--same semimonthly/biweekly/whatever pay), $160k for the first year, $170k for the second year, etc. Most firms have the raise take place on Jan. 1, but I've heard of some firms that have the raise take effect in March or something.
