Risk of backdoor references

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Aug 12, 2015 7:25 pm

I am a junior associate considering applying to a lateral position in a satellite office of a big firm in a secondary market, however several people in the office know people at my current firm. I do not want word to get back to my current employer that I am looking, but the position is a good fit.

In general, what happens if firms find out if their associates are looking and how common are backdoor references?
