Rising 2L here.
I just finished OCI for the L.A market this Thursday and decided to start mass mailing after I heard people talk about it.
What is it exactly? I tried googling exactly what it is and where to send it but I'm still a bit confused.
Is it those electronic applications I keep finding on large firms' sites for summer associates?
Is it e-mailing the recruiter for the office I'm interested in? If it's the recruiter, what do I attach in the e-mail. What do I put in the body of the e-mail?
How many firms should I send it to and which rankings? If it matters, UCLA, no LR, and a 3.44.
Edit: If I bid on the firm during OCI but didn't get an interview slow, should I mention this in the cover letter?
Thanks.

Re: What is mass mailing? Where do I send it?
Mass mailing isn't really a technical terms. It's just the act of applying for summer associate positions at law firms that either didn't come to your school's on campus interviews, or that did but you couldn't get an interview with. It's just shorthand for "maybe you shouldn't rely on OCI alone for the most important job search of your entire career."
If you have any doubt about getting a job via OCI, you should apply to dozens, if not hundreds, of firms. And you should do it last week.
As for how - do some research. It's not complicated and there are loads of resources here on TLS and elsewhere.

Thanks. However, if there is an online application and a recruiter. Which one should I send my application to? That's my main question and I couldn't find the answer on this site.

If they ask you to apply online, the general TLS consensus is to follow their directions and apply online. If you email the recruiter, often you will just get an email saying apply online.
I hate hate hate online applications, but it's probably best to follow the consensus here.
