Plaintiff-Side to Defense-Side
After college I worked as a paralegal for a few years at a plaintiff-side firm. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach a question asking why I want to do defense-side work now?

I primarily do plaintiff work, and I have had a few clients that made me consider transferring to the defense bar.kiwi4president wrote:Just be honest and say the clients are absolute shit. Just kidding don't do that.

Honestly, it's not that I'm drawn to defense-side work in particular. I just want to be attorney--to use the law to craft the best argument possible for my client, whomever that may be. I would be happy on the defense or plaintiff-side. However, generally, as everyone on here is well-aware, defense side work pays more and has summer associate programs. But, that's not what I want to say in an interview.

I think people won't really ask and will view this experience as a plus for them.

Verbal abuse, calling multiple times a day with "urgent" messages, lying, ect. This represents the vast minority of plaintiffs, but I have encountered at least one in my experience so far. That said, I've been able to develop a good rapport with most of the clients that I work with, which reaffirms my decision to be a plaintiff's attorney.baal hadad wrote:Whyditch digger wrote:I primarily do plaintiff work, and I have had a few clients that made me consider transferring to the defense bar.kiwi4president wrote:Just be honest and say the clients are absolute shit.
