I'm also a chick. I don't think any guys have been posting here.
If you don't want to wear hose, don't wear hose. Advice here is simply explaining the safest, most conventional option. That may not be necessary for you, which is totally great. I'm sure for 99% of people who go through OCI without hose, if not more, it totally doesn't matter. That doesn't change the fact that hose is the more traditional, conventional option, even if the number of people who care about that is rapidly dwindling.
They're also really not that logistically challenging.

I was one of those "why wouldn't you?" commenters and I'm a girl. I also worked at a law firm before law school and I wore hose all the time. Just buy hose with good online reviews (I like Hanes silk reflections) and they won't run every time like drugstore hose does.

I'm also female, and hate wearing hose as much as the next person.
ETA: you can ease the discomfort by buying them larger than the manufacturer's size recs.

It's the only way they are tolerable. Hose manufacturers must use Barbie as their fit model.A. Nony Mouse wrote:Nearly added that in to my post as well! I always buy them too big.

Male, V15, frequent interviewer. It's not just about the hose, it's everything. If you're dressed extremely provocatively, regardless of whether you're wearing hose, it's going to raise eyebrows (not good). If your entire comportment and dress is conservative and professional, no one will consider for a second whether you have hose on or not. They might notice, but it won't rank as a consideration when they're writing their assessment.

Am I the only one who kind of prefers wearing panty hose? I find they make wearing heels a ton more comfortable.

I think they make wearing a heeled pump more comfortable, too. I still hate wearing hose, but I learned to tolerate it back when I was required to wear them as flight attendant whenever I wore a skirt/dress.smile0751 wrote:Am I the only one who kind of prefers wearing panty hose? Hose makes my toe slip and puts unnecessary pressure on the balls of my feet in heels.smile0751 wrote:Am I the only one who kind of prefers wearing panty hose? I find they make wearing heels a ton more comfortable.
My go to winter attire is usually a cute dress, some hose, and some booties...so I like wearing hose in general. But in OCI it's just one other arbitrary thing I have to worry about

If you're worried about getting runs in them then carry some back-up pairs. Or bring nailpolish to stop the tear.
And if they're that uncomfortable, buy a bigger size or don't get the control top kind.

I like them, too. In addition to making shoes more comfortable, I do martial arts and need them to cover the bruises that cover my legs about 90% of the time. I also am less paranoid about having missed a patch shaving.smile0751 wrote:Am I the only one who kind of prefers wearing panty hose? I find they make wearing heels a ton more comfortable.
Nordstrom Rack has miracle hose. I love them, and they are one of the few sets that actually match my skin tone of Downton Abbey pale.

I have to wear them for court at my current job and I'm a big fan of the Assets by Spanx sheer pantyhose from Target. The color is perfect for me, but they also are pretty long lasting as far as nylons go. I've managed to hold onto some pairs for months.

For OCI you definitely don't need to splurge and getting some from Target is a better alternative than the drug store, since the brand will at least likely last through the day. And as posted above, either clear nail polish or hairspray will stop a snag or small hole from running.
I personally don't mind wearing hose, in part because I'm so used to it, given various conservative jobs that I've had. I also agree it provides some additional comfort/protection for your feet. I also have a tattoo that I have to cover with makeup and the spot is totally invisible under hose.
If you end up working somewhere that you need to wear hose either all the time or often, I highly recommend splurging on some Wolfords. I prefer their Individual 10, but they have many different styles. They are pricey, but so well made, very sturdy, and would take something pretty serious to cause a rip. Also super comfortable.

Hos tend to do well at OCI, so I voted hose

Re: Ladies: Hose or no hose for OCI/EIW?
this is 100% a stivery question that is well deserving of ridicule: is there a denier that is too fine? I bought 8 denier nylons and they are so thin that it doesn't look like I'm wearing anything at all--like it really doesn't (my friend asked if I was). Those are kind of pointless, right? Like I might as well just wear nothing?
