People deserve at least that.
Sheppard Mullin sent this email on Friday evening:
All of us have been reading about the changes in associate salary that are currently taking place in large law firms. Our firm’s management is following the developments in the market and considering the way in which our firm should respond. As in the past, firm management will be influenced by the actions of the law firms with which our firm competes most often for Associate talent. At present, most of those firms have not yet announced changes. We will continue to monitor market developments, and we will communicate with you again.

I'm the anon without an email. To clarify, I'm a 3L/pending first year, so that makes sense why I didn't get the email. Thanks for the confirmation!

Did you as a law school graduate / not admitted bar passer actually think the firm would e-mail you first? 180K ENTITLEMENT IF I'VE EVER SEEN IT.

You'll probably get one. I got one a few hours after the announcement.

Orrick sent one out on Friday saying there was a meeting planned for this week. No word since then.

SMRH needs to be advanced up the shit list ASAP.

I have a really hard time with the notion that STB can match in a day or two but the entire HHR et. al partnership is just so busy it can't be bothered to even address it for a week.

It's true. I admit my folly. I thought that they would send out one huge email, but I can definitely see why they do the internal email first.

Zero chatter in my TX office (currently on $160K scale). When the Cravath news first broke, a senior associate in the know told me that emails were flying around the associates committee and that firm leadership was aware. He was not optimistic that we'd match, but this was before our biggest competitor in town did match (today). If there's a fear we will start losing associates in our tight and low-leverage market, that could put a lot of pressure on the partners to pony up.
Either way, the deafening silence from firm leadership is not ENJOYable.

Management provided us with a list of firms they consider "peer" when there were issues with bonuses and other benefits. Based on the movement in the last few days, we basically just need Orrick and Pillsbury to match, then any argument for not matching will become suspect. Loeb, Alston and Bird, and Arnold and Porter would be nice, too.

I'm at an international V50, and I think the number of international offices and recent moves by other firms in markets abroad are giving our partnership more cause for pause than they might otherwise have, though some of our most direct peers have already moved. There's silence from the partners, but associates aren't exactly shy about talking about it with each other.

Radio silence at JD. Makes for a lot of frustrated/antsy associates...

It seems like most of the announcements today don't include summers. What should we make of that?

Well considering they regularly no-offer summers, maybe not raising is a good thing for associates in terms of job security.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
