Are tights with skirt suits a yay or nay?

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jul 18, 2015 12:35 am

I've gotten conflicting opinions. Also, I have a more olive skin tone so black tinted tights look better on me than sheer (which can look unnatural)...but I don't want to look like a hooker at my interviews. Thoughts?

Black hose are fine. I wouldn't wear opaque black tights.

Yes I do mean sheer nylon close-toed pantyhose hose in the OP btw. I call them tights, I guess the word changes depending on where you're from.

I think hose is 100% required for skirt suits on an interview. It looks more professional, smooths out any blemishes, and makes you look older and thus more mature and experienced. I worked at a small firm (not biglaw), and there was definitely some mumblemumble if someone came in with no hose. It makes you look young and can read as "unprofessional."

I think it's total nonsense, but given that this is an archaic and patriarchal profession, I would generally pick the more conservative/old-fashioned option when given a choice.
