Will more firms no offer this year?

Post by DELG » Mon Jun 29, 2015 9:47 pm

For a while, firms were concerned no-offering would contribute to speculation about the firm's stability. back in 2011/2012, firms would privately admit they were offering people they wouldn't have in previous years just to get a 100% offer rate. Now that things are more stable, will firms be more willing to dole out those personality dings?

I think a normal, appropriate offer rate is probably low 90s?

I'll say yes on the off chance a SA at my firm reads this and finds themselves motivated to do a better job on my cases.

I think the only difference is that the market was a lot better in 2014 than it was expected to be so it was less likely a given firm would have to no offer people. Many actually underhired. The only people I personally know who were no offered were at firms with firm/office specific problems (30 lawyer satellite offices where a major partner left).
