Fall 2L Internship--grades request

I'm working somewhere for the Fall of my 2L year. They said I got the internship a couple months ago (I was notified after I had a successful interview process). However, they did inform me that I should send them my 1L year transcript during the summer. I bombed a class which has brought my GPA down so much that I missed their GPA requirement by a couple decimals. How do I go about explaining this bad grade on my transcript? I have to email them my transcript and I need a way to explain this bad grade since I'm worried they will retract the fall internship offer now...

Is there a chance I don't have this internship anymore due to this one bad grade?

Would appreciate the help. Thanks. :x

send the transcript and don't point out the shit grade unless they ask.
