Vandy 2015 OCI (C/O 2017)
A place to talk bids, interviews, callbacks, and generally freak out for us class of 2017ers.
I stole this from another thread, but it's a great idea:

We all want to maintain some privacy during this process. That said, it is also nice to keep track of who is saying what. I recommend that everyone pick a handle with which to sign her anonymous posts (although you obviously don’t have to) so that we can keep track of one another.

Does anybody know what the median gpa is at Vandy? I keep seeing very different numbers.

Rising 3L here. 2Ls should feel free to post bidlists for critiquing. Preselects kind of make things weird, but maybe people can help.
Be sure to check out the c/o 2016 recruitment handbook if you haven't already. And the prior years as well. That will tell you which firms consistently take people.

Yes, but this is the case anywhere. Even if your grades are great, you should still throw in a bid at least to Skadden and Milbank, since they each offered a ton of people last year. But really you should bid as many NYC firms as you can.Anonymous User wrote:If we want Biglaw is bidding on NYC a must?

GPA: 3.550, URM.
I'm putting down top 10, will adjust as I complete my list. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.
1. Skadden (NY)
2. Milbank (NY)
3. Latham (NY)
4. Alston Bird (NY)
5. Allen Overy (NY)
6. Simpson Thacher (NY)
7. Baker & McKenzie (Chicago)
8. Locke Lord (Dallas)
9. Baker Botts (NY)
10. Hogan Lovells (NY)

Re: Vandy 2015 OCI (C/O 2017)
It would be helpful if everyone who posts a bidlist could put how many slots each firm has this year. 3Ls don't have access to this year's OCI page. You might also note if the slot is a multi-office one or just that city.Anonymous User wrote:1. Skadden (NY)

I would move A&O down and Hogan up just on the basis that we have someone going to Hogan NYC and no one at A&O. If the Latham slot is just NYC, I might move it down a bit. If multi-office, it's fine. I would move Simpson up a bit. I would think they would be more popular because they reliably take people. Probably at least 4 if they only have 19 slots.

Also regarding bidding generally, a lot of it is guesswork since CSO doesn't give out much data. But remember that if a firm has 19 slots, 9 or 10 of those will be pre-selects. This means that only 9 or 10 people will get a lottery spot with one of these firms. Bid accordingly.

Thanks so much for the help! I've edited my list with the slots for each. Trying to figure out the other half of my bidlist. Would it be correct to assume that Nashville firms should be bid 1-10 or not at all?arklaw13 wrote:It would be helpful if everyone who posts a bidlist could put how many slots each firm has this year. 3Ls don't have access to this year's OCI page. Really don't understand why CSO does this when we hear about so many other schools, e.g. Cornell, giving very in depth data of cutoffs/offer GPAs.arklaw13 wrote:Also regarding bidding generally, a lot of it is guesswork since CSO doesn't give out much data. I might agree with above anon about moving Milbank down. My personal order would be: Skadden, Simpson, Hogan, Milbank, AB, AO.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks so much for the help! And is Hogan DC or NY? Hogan DC with your GPA is a big stretch, even if you have LR.
And generally yeah Nashville is top 10 or not at all, with the exception of Baker if they still have their usual 57 slots.

3.93 LR want Nashville but don't have ties. Are there any Nashville firms more likely to take people without significant ties?

same 3.93 anon here. I know Nashville is super tough, but are there any Nashville firms that like to take people without ties? Do any?
