Will networking save you?
How important is networking if you are below median?
For instance, if you are below median and you have networked with the important lawyers at the firm and they like you, will that be enough to pull you into the firm or it wont matter because your grades are too low?

1. How far below median?
2. What school or approximate rank?
3. What kind of firm?

Why do you think the answer will be anything other than "it depends"? You of course have to share more specifics if you want meaningful answers.Anonymous User wrote:How important is networking if you are below median?

without knowing more, networking can make grades meaningless in small firms, govt and even mid sized firms. still important in biglaw but it has less pull.

"Networking" won't save shit grades for government work (DOJ, SEC, DOS ect) in the least unless you're talking about joe-biden's-grandchildren's sort of networking.JohannDeMann wrote:without knowing more, networking can make grades meaningless in small firms, govt and even mid sized firms. still important in biglaw but it has less pull.

For me networking saved my ass. If it wasn't for 1 friend I had for years I'd have been in trouble. Instead I got a great outcome. Friendship is not only rewarding in itself, but is one of the most valuable assets a young person can have.

Internships & Externships are more rewarding than networking without the goods.
